Photographs
Covering an event that is spectacular in color and scope
would lead any photographer to make thousands of photographs
- and I did just that. Each day of each yearly visit
led to personal discoveries, just as it did for the
thousands of pilgrims and visitors who have come to
Kandy for the festival. As I worked, I tried to learn,
document and absorb as much as I could about the culture
and religious traditions of the people of this city.

the range of images made for this project. I also made
